Is Email Marketing Dead? Think again.

The era of technological advancement has caused the death of a lot of things: online marketing has been accused of killing retail shops, Airbnb is killing the hotel industry and let’s not get into the directory of digital marketing tools that have already made it to the obituary list.

However, we can’t always believe every dramatic claim we hear. Ever since social media channels have invaded the web world, marketers have been drawn to their charming potential. Which leaves us to ponder: Is our good ol’ faithful e-mail marketing dead?

Now to understand the mind-blowing potential of email marketing you first need to understand what it is not, rather than what it is.

If you’ve been a part of the digital marketing world long enough you’ve probably heard the phrase “The Money Is In The List”. This is a simple mantra. You have a list of customers that you can contact at any time, and let them know what you’re up to. On Facebook or any social network, your account is at the risk of being suspended or deleted at any time, for any reason, without any prior notice. You could lose all your fans in an instant, and all the efforts you have put could go waste. However, when it comes to email, you own your email list. No one can take these leads away from you. So if you still haven’t built a list, stop everything you’re doing and start building your list. Right now!

Often amateur marketers assume spamming people with promotional emails to be a form of email marketing. But that’s not what it is. Email marketing is the technique of sending targeted emails to your potential and existing clients. These emails could contain promotional information regarding the latest discounts and offers, newest additions, renovations etc.

Lastly, like every other marketing campaign, an email marketing campaign requires proper planning and an in-depth understanding of your subscribers. The time and frequency of sending out e-mails should also be optimal. If executed well, email marketing could help you create a long-lasting repertoire with your customer base and build a trusted brand.

All the above points bring us to conclude that email marketing isn’t dead, it’s only evolving, and if you wish to stay ahead of the game you have to evolve with it.

Still don’t believe us? Let’s have a look at what the numbers say!

According to Statista, the total number of email users in the world crossed 3.8 billion in 2018 which is higher than the total number of social media users worldwide (2.62 billion in 2018). Despite the rise of messaging apps, the e-mail is still being used by most millennials especially when it comes to formal communication.

It should be clear by now that email marketing is a goldmine of B2B opportunities. It is probably the most powerful channel when it comes to customer acquisition, conversions and retention.

So, are you ready to dive into email marketing?
