What is Pay Per Click

What is Pay Per Click

Pay-per-click or PPC is simple to understand. It is a concept of paid advertising where you as the advertiser, pays for every click that leads a customer or client to your website or web page. You only pay for the clicks coming to your website. This is via the ads that you place over the internet where you feel your target audience are most likely to see them.

Tip: The most important thing about that click is what’s behind it; the motivating force that enticed the internet user to click on your ad. The internet is comprised of over a billion websites and users. These websites can be segmented in a countless number of ways reflecting the billions of users who consume them. These segments can be further segmented to produce an infinite number of ways to categorize and segment internet users as well as to categorize a billion websites they are consuming.

Think about it, an infinite number of ways. This is why it is essential that you understand the intricacies of PPC advertising.

Let’s understand this better.

With PPC, you choose a segment of internet users and select a price you’re willing to pay each time a user clicks on an ad to your website. Every click to on your website has a chance to convert into a sale. Therefore, every click has value.

For PPC to be profitable, the cost per click needs to be less than the potential value the click has for the advertiser. Remember that running a PPC campaign comes from understanding the various tools available at your disposal. These tools have their own functionality, and their duty is to assist you in targeting the right user.

Remember, your ad is in competition with the billions of websites on the internet. The ad seen by the user should entice them to click on it. This will only be done if your ad sparks an interest in them and they feel that you can offer what they’re looking for.

A little while ago, we stated that the most important thing about a click is the motivating force that drove the user to make the click to your site in the first place. We also stated that the more than 1 billion internet users out there can be divided into a countless number of segments.

In the next lesson, we will explain the available tools through the advertising platforms which will target the right users with your ads.
